USTA National Championship Girls 12 was held in Alpharetta, Georgia, 2015.
After our long 12 hour drive from Sarasota, we finally arrived at the beautiful facility of the Windward Lake Club. After checking in and meeting the Tournament Director Turhan Berneand and staff, we took photos and had a fun pizza party.
There were 128 girls competing from all around the United States in this national tournament and I was seeded #17. In my first round I played against a girl from Duluth, MN and won 6-1; 6-1.
Round of 64, I beat a girl from Santa Barbara, CA 6-0; 6-1.
I had my best win ever today, I took out the #1 seed from Lake Forest, IL in the Round of 32, scoring 7-5; 6-2. I’m ready and looking forward to the rest of the Tournament!
Today I played a girl from Washington, DC in the Round of 16 and lost my first set and was down in the second set. I knew I had to change my game plan and fight hard for every point, I won the next 12 out of 14 games to win and advance, 5-7; 6-3; 6-1. Out of 128 girls I am one of the 8 girls left in the main draw.
I made it to the Quarterfinals! Winning straight sets 7-6; 7-5 against a girl from Haverford, PA. I am now one of the 4 girls competing for the National Championship.
I am so excited! Semifinals match today was TOUGH! Played with the #4 seeded girl from LA Grange Park, IL. I lost the first set, won the second, was down 3-1 in the third set and then won 5 games in a row to win the match! 2-6; 6-3; 6-3… Have to get ready for the Finals tomorrow!
The day I have been wanting for such a long time. I made it! I played the #5 seeded girl who lives in the town right next to where I was born, Hewlett, NY. In the finals. I was down 5-1 in the first set then won six games in a row to win the set. Winning the title with straight sets 7-5; 7-6!
