Nikki Yanez Eddier Herr International Tournament 2014

Eddier Herr International Tournament 2014

November 26, 2014

I just wanted to thank my family, friends, Denys, Andrew and the members of the Sarasota Racquet Club, and everyone who follows me, for the great support you have given me in this past year.

This post is going to be updated through out the tournament. The Eddie Herr Tournament will be held at the IMG Academy located at 5500 34th St, W Bradenton, FL 34210, November 26 – December 7, 2014.

My first match is at 10:00am against Lekha Varudandi, who is from Florida and trained with Nick Saviano, who has coached Eugenie Bouchard for the last eight years.

Due to rain, the matches are on 2 hour delay as of 9:30am. So my match will start at 12:00pm.

My match is now scheduled for 1:00pm.

After a 5 hour delay, I had a chance to play against Lekha Varudandi and I won 6-3, 7-6.

I felt good at the beginning of the match but began to feel tired because of the 5 match tournament last weekend that ended on Monday. I am going to rest and hope to feel stronger tomorrow.

It was a beautiful day to play tennis. I started my match sometime after 10am. My opponent was from Switzerland. I lost 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.

During one of the rain delays, we went to watch CiCi Bellis train on one of the IMG back courts. CiCi won the USTA Girls 18’s National Championship (which gave her a wild card into the US Open). She is here to compete in the Girl’s 18’s main draw next week.

I met Mr. Nick Bollettieri while he was walking around the grounds. We spoke a few minutes together and took a picture with him. The first time I met Mr. Bollettieri was at the Discovery Open that was held here at IMG this May. We had dinner with him along with the other players, took pictures with him and bought his book, that he signed personally.

Friday morning, we came back to the tournament, this time to cheer on our friend who was playing. I will probably come back a few more times during the tournament to watch some matches, and support more friends. All in all this tournament was a great experience and I look forward to it again next year to play again.
